My Musings

Are you clueless?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

I’ve been reading a lot of emails lately, asking for advice or help in starting an online business using Wordpress or even Joomla for that matter, and it made me realize that there are still many of you that are totally clueless as to what to do.

And believe me, I’ve been where you’re at right now. And even at times I find myself at a standstill in my business, where all my projects are finished, then I’m back to the marketing grind to acquire another client or too.

This really hinges on you, yes I mean you. Continue reading

Are You Creative or Inteligent?

Hey Guy’s & Gal’s,

I recently came across an interesting video on YouTube when I was searching on the topic of creativity. And the reason behind it was, many guru’s tell that we should build our business around our passion. Mine of course was website design.

In my early years I would love to draw, and would come up with some very creative and wacky drawings. Who would have thought that I would be a website designer. It wasn’t even thought of back then. (Oops, guess I’m showing my age here) Continue reading

Are You on “The Code”?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

Sorry I’ve been a little behind the ball lately but I’ve been doing a little research on QR Codes.

What is a QR Code you might ask?

Watch this little video from CBS News…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYDbFTai0iE&feature=player_embedded

I’ve got one too, so if you see this image anywhere on the web or in a flier or storefront window, you’ll get a special surprise.

You might want to consider doing this also. It may help get the word out about your products and services to a wider audience.

You can also checkout a free QR Code generator website I found that was free at http://www.qrstuff.com/

Until next time I’d love to hear your comments.
Have a wonderful day
Tim

What Are You? A Winner or A Loser?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

A good friend of mine just shot me a video via email and asked me a simple question.

Are You a Winner or a Loser?

This video is not for the faint of heart. (literally) If you have any health problems don’t watch this short video.
But if you’ve got what it takes to make a difference the click the play button to get into the game. Continue reading

How Will You Spend Your Money on Cyber Monday?

Hey Guy’s & Gal’s,

We all know that it’s Cyber Monday, where the majority of sales that will take place today will be online, but…

According to Silence and Voice a website I came across this morning Jeffrey says:

Are you aware that today is Cyber Monday, the Monday immediately after Black Friday? The annual online shopping event is now 3 years old, and is all over the media this morning.

Are you aware that today is World AIDS Day, December 1? The annual day of activism and remembrance is now 20 years old, and reminds us that 2.7 million people get infected with HIV each year. Continue reading

Are You Having Difficulty Acquiring New Customers?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s
Tim here with a question for you to consider if you having difficulty acquiring new customers.

Recently I’ve been doing a lot of research on attracting new customers and customer retention.
And here was the question I posed to a few of the people in my circle of influence. Mainly other
freelance website designers.

1. Do you talk with your customers after the project is completed to gain customer loyalty?
2. And if you do talk with your customers after the project is completed, what questions do you ask them and why?

And you know what? None of them spoke with their clients after the project was completed unless the contact was made first by the past client. And on top of that, they charged the client again for updates and revisions to their website.

I found this rather appalling, because I personally don’t work that way. That’s why I charge a retainer for my website design services. (this covers any additional work or updates long after the project is completed to the clients satisfaction.)

I know the economy is tough right now, and we should as business owners, be working toward building more revenue (especially during the holidays) but enough is enough. We shouldn’t as business owners keep charging our customers just for simple updates or revisions.

I don’t know about you and how you conduct business, but I would hope that it is ethical and honest, and your goal is to build loyalty and integrity, not just trying to squeeze every buck you can out of a client. To me that is just not good business.

Do you go over and above the call of duty to make sure that your clients are happy?

Until next time…
Have a wonderful weekend.
Tim

What I’m About

If you have been following this blog for any time, you probably know that it is not like other blogs.

I don’t have a template or formula for this blog.

It is mine and I use it however I want.

Over 500 Million users can’t been wrong or are they

Are you using Facebook?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

In a recent article in the New York Times they claim that The Social Networking Giant has exceeded over 500 million users around the world, and just to think it was created by a Havard Sophomore.

Here’s a part of what the article mentioned:

Facebook, the world’s largest social network, announced in July 2010, that it had 500 million users around the world. The company has grown at a meteoric pace, doubling in size since 2009 and pushing international competitors aside. Its policies, more than those of any other company, are helping to define standards for privacy in the Internet age.

The company, founded in 2004 by a Harvard sophomore, Mark Zuckerberg, began life catering first to Harvard students and then to all high school and college students. It has since evolved into a broadly popular online destination used by both teenagers and adults of all ages. In country after country, Facebook is cementing itself as the leader and often displacing other social networks, much as it outflanked MySpace in the United States. You can read the rest of the article here

Can you believe that. It’s even kicking other social networks to the curb. No wonder many offline and online business are using Facebook for connecting with current and new customers.

But really now, is it really the cat’s meow when it comes to your marketing efforts?

I was using Facebook, and did quite well in attaining followers in my niche, but then it really got mean, in the advent of Facebook Ads, competition really heated up with all the expert marketers jumping on the band wagon, or so they claimed.

And then all the other distraction like Farmville and an array of other games to occupy your time.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a little R & R, but my R & R is not playing games on my pc, it’s spending quality time talking with my wife, learning about my son’s day at school.

I know many of my readers are avid fans of Facebook and that’s ok, but don’t put all your marketing efforts into social media. There many other ways to engage your customers.

Well, I guess this is enough ranting for now. I’d love to know what you think about Facebook good or bad and what your experience has been.

Have a wonderful day
Timothy

God’s 26 Guards

God’s 26 Guards
Hi Everyone, I know this is a little off the beaten path, but this morning my wife got in a car accident but is doing well. Can’t say much for the car.

An friend of mine who is in our Wednesday night bible study sent me this email, just to let me know that the Lord was in controll.

Here’s a message that will bring you chills.

Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and then just put it on a list and said, ‘I’ll pray for them later’?

Or has anyone ever called you and said, ‘I need you to pray for me, I have this need?’

Read the following story that was sent to me and may it change the way that you may think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this….

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan .

‘While serving at a small field hospital in Africa , every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.

On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital

Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord.

I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident….

Two weeks later I repeated my journey.

Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines.

He said, ‘Some friends and I followed you in to the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight.

We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.

At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite. The young man pressed the point, however, and said, ‘No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.’

At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date and the man who interrupted told him this story:

‘On the night of your incident in Africa , it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong; I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you.

Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?’
The men who had met together to pray that day stood up.

The missionary wasn’t concerned with whom they were, he was too busy counting how many men he saw.

There were 26.

This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord moves in behalf of those who love Him.

If you ever feel such prodding to pray, go along with it, you don’t know what it can mean to that person.

Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the gates of hell.

I encourage you to forward this to as many people as you know. If we all take it to heart, we can turn this world toward God once again.

As the above true story clearly illustrates, ‘With God all things are possible’.

More importantly, how God hears and answers the prayers of the faithful.

After you read this, please pass it on and give God thanks for the beautiful gift of your faith, for the powerful gift of prayer, and for the many miracles He works in your own daily life… And then pass it on. Who says God does not move on the earth today?

I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today.

To guide you and protect you as you go along your way.

His love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him our cares you know He will see us through.

So when the road you’re traveling on seems difficult at best, just remember I’m here praying, and GOD will do the rest.

Pass this on to those whom you want God to bless
I Can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Why We Do What We Do...

Since early childhood, art and the attention to detail has been the driving force in everything I do, and I have found this to be very beneficial when it comes to website design and development.

But it's not only about the financial rewards, It's seeing an idea develop and become a reality for many of my clients.

From the most simplistic of designs, to the more extravagant and lavish layouts, each one is unique. And is designed with the end user in mind..
