U.S. Economy Lost 54,000 Jobs in August; Jobless Rate Rose to 9.6%

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

I know that this post is a little off the beaten path, but I just had to say a few words about a recent article I got in my inbox from the New York Times. It states:

The unemployment rate rose in August for the first time in four months as weak hiring by private employers wasn’t enough to keep pace with a large increase in the number of people looking for work.

The Labor Department says companies added a net total 67,000 new jobs last month, down from July’s upwardly revised total of 107,000.

Overall, the economy lost 54,000 jobs as 114,000 temporary census positions came to an end. State and local governments shed 10,000 positions. The jobless rate rose to 9.6 percent from 9.5 percent in July.

Oops! something is “Technically” wrong…

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything main stream about Twitter, but over the past few weeks, since the rollout of the new app, “Twitter Places” Twitter has found, more times than naught, that trying to keep up with “The Jones” or trying to “Stay Ahead of The Curve” has put another twist in the mix.

And that twist is “Servability” ok, maybe that’s not quite the right word, but lately, at least from a users perspective, when they go to Twitter to post a tweet or reply to a friends tweet, they get the “Oops something is technically wrong message”.

Now I don’t know about you, but being a business owner, the “Oops!” just doesn’t cut it, when your up against a schedule and your time is very important.

You can have all the Twitter Tools, Tips and resources to help make your marketing efforts work together for the benefit of yourself and your followers, but if Twitter is down, then all the other apps are too.

So, what do you do when Twitter is down, and the “Fail Whale” swims into your harbor?

I know many of you have more than one marketing avenue in the mix, so what do you do when you have all these social media networks all tied together and one of those sites goes down?

What do you have in your arsenal that is tried, tested and approved to never let you down.

Until next time.
Have a wonderful day,
Tim

Google Get’s it’s Own Slap

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

If a recent article in the NY Times from the 10th, we found out that Google is again in hot water with it’s offices in Seol Korea.

We’ve put the article below, so you can see for your self what’s happening.

Here’s the article.

Police in South Korea Raid Google’s Office
By CHOE SANG-HUN

SEOUL, South Korea — The South Korean police raided the offices of Google Korea on Tuesday as part of an investigation into whether the company had illegally collected and stored personal wireless data.

The search company is already facing lawsuits and investigations in several countries in connection with private wireless data collected for its Street View service. Street View, which was started in 2006, allows users to view panoramic street scenes on Google Maps and take virtual walks through cities.

From late last year until May, Google Korea dispatched cars topped with cameras to cruise around the country to photograph neighborhoods before the planned introduction of Street View.

The police suspect that those cars might have illegally captured and stored personal data from wireless networks while they were mapping streets, a statement by the Cyber Terror Response Center of the Korean National Police Agency said.

“We will investigate Google Korea officials and scrutinize the data we confiscated today” to see whether the company violated the country’s laws on communications and privacy, it said.

“We intend to find out what kinds of data they have collected and how much,” the response center said. “We will try to retrieve all the original data illegally collected and stored through domestic Wi-Fi networks from the Google headquarters.”

Google confirmed in an e-mailed statement to Reuters that the South Korean police visited the company’s office in conjunction with their investigation concerning data collection by Street View cars. The company said it would cooperate with the investigation.

Google said previously that the collection of personal data in other countries had been unintentional and that the company would cooperate with investigations. The company has faced tough competition in South Korea. One domestic search engine, Daum, already runs a popular service akin to Street View.

Google said Tuesday that it would introduce Street View in Germany before the end of the year, The Associated Press reported from Berlin.

The feature, Google said, would be available in the 20 largest German cities. According to the company, residents could ask to have photographs of their houses removed from the database starting next week — a move aimed at dispelling privacy fears.

What do you think should happen to Google?
Have a wonderful day.

Getting Local

Hey guy’s and gal’s, everyone knowadays is talking about taking your business locally. And I’d have to admit I’m all for it.

A matter of fact that’s exactly what I do.
Recently I had the pleasure of attending the MyFoxBoston Zip Trip right here in my home town of Leominster Ma, and I will have to admit it was a wonderful day to rub elbows with alot of the local business, taste the food from local hot spots, and of course, a good cup of coffee from Dunkin Donut’s

I even had the pleasure of talking with the mayor of our town Dean Mazzarella. who is featured in this video clip from the Zip Trip.

We also had the opportunity of rubbing elbows with some of the celebrities of Fox News.

So, if the Zip Trip comes to your town, take a break, and get involved with your community. You never know what may turn up.

Have a wonderful day

What is Your Solution

Hey everyone, Tim here with another update,

Lately, I’ve been in a dilemma and maybe you can help me out.

I know that many of you already have a successful business and some of you are still trying to make your first dollar online. And believe me I’ve been on both sides of the fence.

From designers prospective, putting together a website is easy, but then again that’s my profession. That’s my passion. But website design is just a very small portion of the equation.

Over the past 15 plus years I’ve learned many things about website design, search engine optimization, pay per click advertising, article writing, affiliate marketing, social media and a whole host of factors that complete the entire scope of running a business online.

But I’ve noticed that even with all the pieces in place, many people still are not making money online. And when they don’t see immediate results they get discouraged and think that this internet thing is all just a bunch of hogwash and many will throw in the towel and give up.

Even I at times have contemplated closing up shop and going back to a regular J.O.B (Just over broke) just to make ends meet. And many of you have done the same thing, (You know who you are) or you simply keep moving forward in hopes of reaching the “Golden Ring” to where you can finally break free of the 9 – 5 rat race.

If you’ve reached a level of success that you are satisfied with then congratulations, but are you truly where you want to be? Do you have a feeling deep down inside that there’s got to be something more?

If you haven’t reached a level of success, you already know some or all of these gut retching feelings of uneasiness, wanting, unworthiness, and feelings of failure that are so overwhelming, that they can cause you to think that this whole internet thing is a waste of time.

But I’m here to tell you, you’re not a failure, you CAN, with the right MINDSET, ACHIEVE whatever it is that you want out of life. I know that this is a very Bold Claim but hear me out for a minute.

A man by the name of Andrew Carnegie hired Napoleon Hill to study the top 100 income earners’ of their time and to find a common thread that would explain their success, and then write a book about his findings. And the results of those findings was compiled together into a book called “Think and Grow Rich“, and in that book is one of the most profound statements that has ever been coined, and it states…

“What ever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve –Napoleon Hill”

And Napoleon goes on to state that everyone that he studied or interviewed did have a common thread, and that one thing gave them the drive and determination to succeed. And if you’ve ever read the book you’ll know, that it has nothing to do with the money or fame, though it was the by-product.

Each one of the top 100 income earners that Napoleon interviewed or studied, saw a problem that needed to be solved, and had a passion to try and help find a solution to that problem. And, in solving that problem, they reaped the rewards for many years to come.

Each one of us HAS A SOLUTION, to someone else’s problem. We all know something that someone else doesn’t. I could sit here and list a thousand examples right off the top of my head without blinking an eye, and I’m sure that you could too, of the many problems that plague our world.

Everything from the Unemployment Crisis to the disaster off the Louisiana Coast with the BP Oil spill. And many in between. The list of problems that this world faces is astounding. Do you see what I’m getting at here?

You HAVE a solution to someone else’s problem. YOU are the SOLUTION, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Now letting people know that you have the solution is the key to the whole equation. But this we’ll talk about in our next newsletter.

Be the SOLUTION! and remember what Napoleon Hill said “What ever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”

Have a wonderful weekend.
Tim

PS If you have any questions about this post, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And please, if you know anyone that you think will benefit from this newsletter please pass it on to a friend.

What is your solution?

What shapes and molds us into who we are?

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in keeping up with my rantings, but just recently I came upon a video on Google that really shocked me, you can watch the movie below or click on the previous link. Please note that the movie is a little over 2 hours long, and must be viewed with an open mind.

Now your proably wondering why this movie would have anything to do with website design or even branding which is mainly what I try and focus on on this blog.

When it comes to Personal Branding, it’s about being transparent, it’s about being the real you.

But do we really know who we are? What shapes and molds us into who we are?

From the moment we are born, we are bombarded with signals that shape the course of our lives. As we get older we have the opportunity to make a choice as the direction that these signals point us too.

Our parents try and mold us, the media tries to persuade us, and the state of our economy in many cases tries to dictate what we can or can not do.

Please, don’t let this happen to you, step outside the box and be or become what ever your inner heart desires.

When we do this, we are able to see a whole new world and a new perspective on life, and take the bull by the horns and create a new life for ourselves that will create an impact on others.

I’d love to hear what you think about the movie, also, please watch this movie with your partner, but put your children in another room, some parts of the movie are vulgar and graphic, and not for the squeamish.

My this be an eye opener.
Have a wonderful day.

Have you tried everything?

Hey Guy’s & Gal’s,

Have you ever wondered why your not making any sales, or your volume of sales were lower than you expected?

Then you get down in the dumps, because you can’t understand why people aren’t flocking to your business in droves? You have a product or service that your target market wants, the price is right, but still their not buying?

You rank high in the search engines, you have an excellent sales letter, your website design and layout are the cat’s meow, but still nothing works?

You’ve tried every method possible?
You’ve tried Social Networking, with Facebook, with Twitter, with Myspace and even Linkedin.
You’ve tried PLR (Private Label Rights)
You’ve tried MLM (Multilevel Marketing)
You’ve tried Article Marketing
You’ve tried Blogging
You’ve tried Magazine Ads.
You’ve tried Classifieds and still nothing seems to work.

Ok, now your probably wondering where I’m going with all of this, well to be honest, everyone, and I mean everyone is searching for the “Golden Key” that will transform their business and their personal lives. But, believe it or not, it’s all about being validated for all your hard work and efforts.

That’s right, validation.

I recently came across Katie’s website at http://www.prosperitychallenge.com/ and it really struck a cord with me. It’s not a well crafted design, a matter of fact is the default theme that comes with wordpress, but it’s impact is right on target

When is the last time you needed to be validated? Check out the short movie below and tell me what you think….

Please stop by Katie’s website and let her know I sent you. I hope you have receive some inspiration from the above video, and please spread the word about Katie’s site.

Enjoy!

Hanging out with myself

This past weekend was quite different for me – rather than inundate myself in more work, business to-do’s and other entrepreneurial brainstorms, I took some time for myself. I quickly came to the conclusion that hanging out by oneself isn’t as overrated as I thought.

Quite nice, actually.

For the better part of 3 years now, I’ve self-admittedly been a workaholic. Which isn’t all that bad, considering I love what I do, can do it from home and it doesn’t take me away from my family as much as it does other workaholics. With me, it’s more about the mental workaholicism – even when I’m not in front of the computer, I’m still working.

I think this weekend was a case of reaching maximum capacity, and deliberately taking a break. I’ve forgotten how much I actually like to do “normal people” stuff on the weekends, rather than saturate my already-saturated mind with work.

Saturday morning I help out a Community Service program to help clean up the streets in my home town, and one of the team members was talking to another helper and I overheard her say, “come on let’s work as a team” you’re not the only one here. For me this weekend was all about there being “no Team in I”. I learned that it’s ok to take time off for myself, because I actually feel more refreshed than I have in quite a while.

Funny how things turn out…

Get Out of my Head!

One thing about being a business owner, there is never a lack of work to do. As I type this I can think of all of the things I still want to do along with all of the things I still need to get done. What I have learned however, is that I can only do any one thing very well at a time. So I will start there.

We entrepreneurs can stay in our heads for a long time. Sometimes we want excellence. Sometimes we want the time to be precise. And sometimes we are just afraid that it won’t be right. Problem is, until we get out of our heads, we’ll never know the answer to anything and it will always be in our heads.

The question is how do you get out of your head?
Here I’ll list 5 tips that can get you from thinking to doing in a matter of minutes:

1) Write down a plan with a time-line – sometimes seeing what you need to get done on paper will eliminate the sticky points because you can see it right in front of you.

2) Give yourself a time limit and tell others. If you really want take responsibility for something, tell somebody that you are going to do something by a certain date. They’ll hold you to it.

3) Let go of “perfect”. It doesn’t exist, so just let it go. Do your best and trust you can always improve.

4) Ask for support. Find someone you trust to push you. A personal coach can do wonders for your business and your brain.

5) Just do one thing. Just get moving. Take a leap of faith. Doing something beats doing nothing any day.

Being in your head is a lonely and sometimes scary place. You can be far stronger putting yourself out there. It may not always be perfect, but it will always be right.

Question for you: What can you get out of your head that will make a difference in your business?
