Twitter Tapping!
- by Timothy Caron
Hey Guy’s and Gal’s in a recent article published: December 12, 2009 by The New York Times it states that…
The government is increasingly monitoring Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites for tax delinquents, copyright infringes and political protesters. A public interest group has filed a lawsuit to learn more about this monitoring, in the hope of starting a national discussion and modifying privacy laws as necessary for the online era.
In the article it continues to state that law enforcement is not saying a lot about its social surveillance, but examples keep coming up.
Police officers and other law enforcement officials are going undercover to hunt down tax scoffers, copyright infringes and those who write tid-bits about political views. They use Twitter, MySpace, blogs and online forums and even YouTube to monitor what is being said.
Is the government crossing the line when it comes to using these services under fictitious names just to spy on what we are doing and or saying on these social networks? Does this step beyond the bounds of our privacy?
I encourage you to read the article further and come to you own conclusion?
We have mentioned in recent articles, to be careful in what you say and how you say it. So with that being said…”please be careful what you say” it could come back to haunt you.
I’d love to know your comments.
Until next time have a wonderful day…
Tim
